Why resizing (reasons)

Any computer user will have to do some kind of image manipulation at some point. Even if it’s simply image resizing. While photo editing and image modification is a large software industry, any layman should know at least the basics in terms of image editing. One of these things would be resizing. You may have to resize images for innumerable reasons; this post will look at two of the most common reasons as to why you may need to edit the size of an image.

    * Web developing

Web developing can be a painstaking process that requires perfecting every single element to work in unison to construct the ideal website in terms of flow, layout and appearance. While amateur websites may be made with little attention to detail, advanced web development with consideration of all visual elements may require an assortment of graphics from different locations. This may sometimes require resizing images to fit the layout of the site. The various types of images where resizing is necessary are several ranging from the logo to a background image or even a bullet point.

    * Internet applications

Despite the rapid advancement of remote communication and internet speeds, there is still a limit when it comes to file storage and sharing on the internet. Everything ranging from social networks to message boards to image sharing websites has a certain limit which cannot be exceeded. Message boards specifically tend to have a strict limit on dimensions of images accepted. To accommodate the requirements set by these websites, resizing may be the only option.

With the superfluous resolutions that cameras support and operate in, resizing is particularly necessary when working with photos. Particularly when transferring them. If you are looking to share photos via social networks or by email or other service via the internet, sending several images in a capacious resolution can be quite expensive and time consuming. Resizing pictures can be accomplished in a matter of seconds with the right tools. It requires very little knowhow and a user who knows his way around a computer should be able to figure out resizing an image using any popular tool or method.

There is an array of methods available to resize images. You can opt to use your default image editor or look for a more sophisticated solution. an ideal way would be to use a web based or online image resizer. These are quick and easy to use and consume no resources from your computer which is an added advantage.
